NCEA and CIE Provisional Results 2011National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA)Level 1Thirty-nine Year 11 students sat NCEA Level 1 (4 or more subjects) in 2011. Thirtythree gained their Level 1 Certificates, which is a success rate of 84.6%. The 84.6% success rate is our second best to date. To gain a Level 1 Merit endorsement on their certificate a student must gain 50 credits at Merit or Excellence level at the same level or higher. Nine students gained a Merit endorsement. These students are Nathan AARTS (St John’s), Kurt BARKER (School), Patrick FOSS (Peart), Mathew HOPE (St John’s), Tepaki HUI (Averill), James MCCLOY (Greenbank) Jay NAND (St John’s) Timothy WAIT (Averill) and Jozef WRIGHT (School). Twenty-four students gained at least 100 NCEA Level 1 credits. This represents 61.5% of the cohort which is up on last year’s total of eighteen students or 50% of that cohort. Highest credit scores were attained by Kurt BARKER (School) (146 credits), Monty BROWN (Averill) (134 credits) and Patrick FOSS (Peart) (125 credits). Level 2 Seventy-four Year 12 students sat NCEA Level 2 (4 or more subjects) in 2011. Sixtyeight gained their Level 2 Certificates, which is a success rate of 91.9%. To receive a Level 2 Certificate a student requires 60 Credits at Level 2 or higher plus 20 credits at Level 1 or higher. The 91.9% success rate is our best to date, particularly bearing in mind the increased number of students sitting NCEA Level 2. To gain a Level 2 Excellence endorsement a student must gain 50 credits at Excellence level. Three students gained an Excellence endorsement. These students are Paige HARWOOD (Taylor), Sophie KEMBER (Taylor) and Alexandra TAPPER (Taylor). To gain a Level 2 Merit endorsement a student must gain 50 credits at Merit or Excellence level. Fifteen students gained a Merit endorsement. These students are Maddie AIKEN (Taylor), Timena APA (Taylor), Imogen BRADDOCK (Tayor), Amelia BRITTAIN, (Taylor), Phillipa DINGWELL (Middlemore), Emilie FERRIER (Taylor), Anna GARRETT (Taylor), Rosemary HEBDEN (Middlemore), India LEISHMAN (Taylor), Elizabeth MACCULLOCH (Taylor), Sarah-Jane MITCHELL (Middlemore), Harrison NASH (Marsden), Olivia SANDELIN (Taylor), Kate STIASSNY (Taylor) and Kate SYMS (Taylor). Harrison NASH features in both Excellence and Merit endorsements. These are our best Level 2 results to date with 19 students gaining at least 100 NCEA Level 2 credits. This represents 25.7% of candidates compared with 20% in 2010, which was our previous best result. Highest credit scores were attained by Paige HARWOOD (Taylor) (118 credits), Anna GARRETT (Taylor) (117 credits) and Harrison NASH (Marsden) (115 credits). Level 3 Sixty-five Year 13 students sat NCEA Level 3 (4 or more subjects) in 2011. Fifty-four gained their Level 3 Certificates, which is a success rate of 83.1%. To gain a Level 3 Excellence endorsement a student must gain 50 credits at Excellence level. Two students gained an Excellence endorsement. These students are Latafale AUVA’A (Taylor) and Rose HEWETSON (Middlemore). To gain a Level 3 Merit endorsement a student must gain 50 credits at Merit or Excellence level. Five students gained a Merit endorsement. These students are Alannah DIXON (Middlemore), James LAY (Parnell), Georgina RISING (Taylor), Maddison WAITE (Taylor) and Georgia WOODBRIDGE (Taylor). Five students gained at least 100 NCEA Level 3 credits. This represents 7.4% of candidates compared with 20.7% in 2010. Highest credit scores were attained by Rose HEWETSON (Middlemore) (116 credits), Latafale AUVA’A (Taylor) (115 credits) and James LAY (Parnell) (112 credits). Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)IGCSENineteen students gained 6 ‘A’ grades including at least 3 ‘A*’ grades. This compares with 18 in 2010, 16 in 2009 and 18 in 2008. These students are James ALACH (Peart), Joshua FUGE (Marsden), Sean GLASGOW (School), Sam GOODWIN (Peart), Sebastian GOULD (Major), Jack HOPKINS (Marsden), Jonathan KENNEDY-TILL (Peart), Jaehwan KIM (Major), Samuel MACGILL (Major), Luke PATERSON (Major), William RITCHIE (Selwyn), Ayrton ROY (Greenbank), Rajeev ROY (Marsden), Emerson TAMURAPAKI (Marsden), Ben TREADWELL (Peart), Henry TUCK (Major), Jack WAN (Averill), James WONG (Greenbank) and Jimmy YAO (Marsden). AS Levels Thirteen students gained three ‘A’ grades in AS examinations. These students are Joshua CARMICHAEL (Peart), Claude DRAPER (Major), Robert GLENGARRY (Major), Kim KINGSTONE (Greenbank), Uday KOYA (Major), Calvin LIM (Averill), Olivia MILLER (Taylor), Lucy PARKER (Taylor), Ashley VARNEY (Taylor), Guy WALLACE (Greenbank), Hamish WALLACE (St John’s), Guy WAYNE (School) and Hamish WU (Major). This compares with 17 students in 2010 and 16 students in 2009. Twenty-three students gained 4 or more ‘A’ grades in AS Examinations. These students are Jamie BEATON (Greenbank), Jason CHIANG (Marsden), Elliot COUPER (Parnell), Johanna DOERING (Taylor), Xavier FIELD (School), Lacey FULFORD (Taylor), Cosmo FYERS (Greenbank), Nicol FYFE (Marsden), James GEORGETTI (Marsden), Nathan GREEN (Marsden), Cameron KENDALL (Major), Kyeong-Jun KIM (Parnell), Jefferson KO (Marsden), Emily Mcgarry (Taylor), Henry NEWELL (Major), Richard NGO (St John’s), Preyanka REGUNATHAN (Taylor), Oliver TOWLE (Peart), Robert WANG (St John’s), Charlotte WILKINSON (Taylor), William YAXLEY (St John’s), James YOUNG (Major) and Steven YOUNG (Greenbank). A Levels Thirty students gained at least three A Level ‘A’ grades. In 2010, 19 students gained three ‘A’ grades. Shan Jun CHAN gained five ‘A*’ grades averaging 94.4%. Ashish PANDEY gained three ‘A*’ grades this year and one ‘A’ grade in addition to two ‘A*’ grades in 2010. He averaged 93% over his five ‘A*’ grades. Maverick LEE gained four ‘A*’ grades in addition to one ‘A*’ grade in 2010.
